Andrea Park

With just six weeks to go, it seems the list of questions we have about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s wedding is growing longer by the minute. Who will be Meghan’s maid of honor? Will the Spice Girls really perform at the reception? How many of Harry’s exes will be in attendance? And, perhaps most pressingly, what will Meghan’s dress look like? Though there’s a good chance we won’t find out the answers to any of those until May 19, that hasn’t stopped lovers of all things royal from speculating—and now, they’ve got a new, pretty believable theory about which designer Meghan has chosen to dress her on her big day. 47 Best Wedding Songs Of 2017

Brides

Blair Donovan

Few things can define your wedding reception quite like your music selection. So, if you’re getting married in the near future, you need to pick the best of the best wedding songs from 2017 to truly set the tone. As if you weren’t already stressed out enough from picking out your incredibly heartfelt first dance and father-daughter dance songs, you also have to consider your playlist for the rest of the reception. The pressure’s on to please the crowd and keep your guests tearing up the dance floor (because nothing puts the fun in weddings quite like a good dance sesh).

Whether you rented a live band or went the DJ route, it might seem like the easy way out to delegate the music choices to these vendors, but you’re better than that! Having a say in your reception songs falls on the same level of importance as selecting your dinner menu(yes, it’s THAT big of a deal). While your estranged cousin Bob will probably still request constantly overplayed wedding tunes like “Shout” or “Sweet Caroline,” give your reception a present-day vibe and keep the energy alive with our picks of the 47 best wedding songs from 2017. From upbeat pop favorites to romantic first dance tunes, these beats will keep friends and family on their feet (uncomfortable high heels tossed to the side and all) and make your reception one for the books. 9 Brides On Their Something Blue

The Cut

Margaret Rhodes

  1. Sara Blum Sherman, 29

Married: June 2016

“I had been taking dance lessons and scuffed the bottom of my shoes, so painting the bottoms pale blue seemed like a great way to spruce them up for our wedding day and incorporate that tradition. I had it done at our local cobbler on 71st Street.”

  1. Lindsay Peoples Wagner, 27

Married: August 2017

“My mother and my older sister wore this garter on their wedding days. I remember it from when I was 8 or so — I took it out of a white linen drawstring bag on my mother’s dresser and asked her what it was. She didn’t give it to me until my actual wedding day, though.” Continue reading

Every British Royal Wedding Tradition You Need To Know

Phillip B. Crook

THE PROPOSAL

The Royal Marriages Act of 1772 requires all royal descendants to seek the sovereign’s approval for marriage. But the requirements don’t stop there—the 1701 Act of Settlement prohibits royals from marrying Catholics. Royals may legally wed an atheist or someone of any faith other than Roman Catholicism. The Queen’s eldest grandchild Peter Phillips in 2008, Autumn Kelly converted from Roman Catholicism to Anglicanism so her husband would keep his place as 11th in line for the throne. Soon after Will and Kate’s engagement was announced, officials from Buckingham Palace said the Queen was “absolutely delighted” for the couple, which can only mean she approved of Will’s choice. Sources have also reported that Harry has already asked Her Majesty’s permission to wed Meghan Markle, and the Queen bestowed her blessing. There has been much speculation about Markle’s religious background, and many publications have falsely reported that Markle is Jewish because of a two-year marriage to Trevor Engelson, a Jewish producer, from 2011to 2013. While we’re unsure of Markle’s beliefs, we’re assuming the couple is well aware of the law and we’re hoping it’s a non-issue. Continue reading

What You Don’t Need at Your Wedding

Legally, all you need for a wedding is a visit to the county clerk’s office, and whatever else your local government requires. (Check here.) Everything else is optional. Of course, some things are more optional than others. Most weddings these days skip the garter toss; many skip the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and some even skip the flowers. What matters is that you pick the right elements to keep making you and your guests happy. Continue reading

Hello Giggles

Margeaux Baulch Klein8/18/2017

It’s not just the ridiculous cost of weddings these days that makes some couple opt to have a small wedding guest list. Whether you live far away from your extended family or simply can’t think of 200+ people you care enough about to invite, small weddings often make more sense.

However, just because your wedding is tiny in size doesn’t mean that it shouldn’t look and feel as glamorous as a bigger shindig. Here are some small wedding ideas that will make your intimate gathering look and feel as special as anything you might see on Pinterest or Instagram. Continue reading

6 unexpected honeymoon ideas for millennials

40x80TensionTent

Hello Giggles

8/24/2017

A ton has been written about how millennials have changed the wedding industry — from skipping traditions that don’t align with their values to opting for smaller but still Instagrammable receptions — but they have also revolutionized the honeymoon industry.

Part of this change may be a result of twenty and thirty-something couples forgoing traditional registries and using apps like Honeyfund to raise money to travel (rather than being saddled with a set of fine china that they’ll never use).

There’s also the fact that millennials are more well-traveled than any other generation, particularly since cheap airfare and sites like Airbnb and Couchsurfing have made it easier to travel the world. So when they get married, the typical honeymoon trope of spending a week at a “romantic” all-inclusive resort just won’t do for many millennials. Instead, they are opting for offbeat and unexpected honeymoon ideas, like the ones below. Continue reading

What It’s Really Like To Be A Celebrity Wedding Planner

Planning a wedding is one of the most stressful things you can do in life, which makes wedding planners – who take on all that anxiety with gusto – the embodiment of the calm before the wedding storm. When Chrissy Teigen and John Legend hired wedding planner Lisa Vorce to coordinate what would become one of the most high-profile wedding celebrations of 2013, the seasoned pro found herself dealing with the dream dilemma: The celeb couple was so easygoing that they looked to Vorce to help them build everything from the ground up.

“To design their wedding, I first got to know and understand them (amazing!), then I took a look at the venue (Lake Como – also amazing!),” Vorce says. “From there, I created a ‘mood board’ that was a reflection of the colors, architecture, and topography of Lake Como, along with the vibe of John and Chrissy. John and Chrissy then chose what most resonated with them, and the rest is history.” Continue reading
